Communications Intern
The Genetics & Public Policy Center seeks a full-time intern to produce reports, Web copy, issue briefs, and other materials. The intern will learn to write quickly and accurately about issues in human genetics policy, including genetic testing, public consultation, genetic privacy, cloning, stem cells, and reproductive genetics. Pay is $12-16/hour, depending on experience.
Our offices are located on the Johns Hopkins Washington, D.C. campus near Dupont Circle. We are looking for someone to start in January, with a maximum six-month tenure. This position is open until filled. Applications are, however, accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Minimum qualifications: Applicants must have, or be working toward, a B.S. or B.A. in biology or a related area, or an undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, or political science with a science minor. A demonstrated ability to write about science and science-related policy issues is required. M.S., M.A., or M.F.A. candidates preferred.
